West Point
In May of 2012, I was invited to document the Room Dedication Ceremony for beloved American Icon, Colonel Dr. Buzz Aldrin. The event took place at the historic Thayer Hotel inside The United States Military Academy at West Point in Upstate New York.
Buzz Aldrin graduated third in his class from the Academy in 1951. Shortly thereafter Aldrin became a Second Lieutenant in the Air Force and flew 68 combat missions as a fighter Pilot in the Korean War. Aldrin went on to receive a Doctorate of Science in Aeronautics and joined NASA in October of 1963. On July 20, 1969, he became the second astronaut to walk on the Moon. The time I spent at West Point and with Buzz Aldrin undoubtedly held some of the most inspiring moments of my life.
I would like to thank Michael Gorton, without whom this project would not be possible.
